Account Ability Includes Combined Federal/State Filing! |
IRS established the
Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) Program to simplify information
returns filing for the taxpayer. Through the CF/SF Program, IRS/IRB
forwards original and corrected information returns filed electronically
to participating states free of charge for approved filers. Separate
reporting to those states is not required.
The following information
returns may be filed under the CF/SF program:
1099-B — Proceeds From Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions
1099-G — Certain Government Payments
1099-K — Payment Card and Third Party Network Payments
1099-PATR — Taxable Distributions Received From Cooperatives
1099-R — Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, Insurance Contracts
5498 — IRA Contribution Information
If you click
on any of the above links you will notice a CFSP (Combined
Federal State Program) field on the user interface. Simply specify a participating
state in the CFSP field and IRS will forward the information
to the participating state.
Participation is Easy
A test file, coded for the CF/SF program, must be submitted to the FIRE Test System.
Although a test file is only required for the first year, it is highly recommended
that a test file be sent every year you participate in the Combined
Federal/State Filing program. Account Ability creates and submits
test files with just a couple of mouse clicks.
For detailed instructions, see the Combined Fed/State Filing
topic on our FAQ page.
