The 1099-MISC User Interface
Each filer's returns are entered or imported onto screens that resemble the actual forms. The Mag, 1096, and Printed indicators specify whether or not a 1099 should be reported electronically, included on transmittal 1096, or printed, respectively. Pursuant to IRS specifications, an Account number is required of each recipient receiving more than one Information Return of the same type. Account Ability's Tools menu includes the option to automatically assign recipient account numbers.

Notice in the illustration above that the captions in some boxes are colored maroon. A maroon colored box is one which is not used by this filer. One can easily specify which boxes should not be used using Account Ability's Tab Stop Designation dialog. Boxes that are not specified as tab stops are automatically skipped as you depress the 'Enter' or 'Tab' key. Non-designated tab stops are still active! That is, one can still enter information into a non-designated tab stop by first clicking his/her mouse in the box.
