Setup the Client (Filer) Master File
Depending upon the type of returns to be filed, a filer can be a Payer (1099-MISC, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-OID, 1099-PATR, 1099-B, 1099-G, 1099-Q, 1099-R, 1099-LTC, W2G), a Lender (1099-A, 1098, 1098-E), a Creditor (1099-C), a Filer (1099-S, 1098-T), a Trustee (5498, 5498-SA, 5498-ESA, 1099-SA), a Corporation (1099-CAP), a Provider (1099-H), a Donee (1098-C), or, an Employer (W2, W2C). To avoid this ambiguity, Account Ability regards all filers as clients and uses the terms client and filer synonymously. There is NO LIMIT to the number of clients, nor the number of returns per client, one can enter in Account Ability.
A client's record contains 6 pages (General, Corporate, Contacts, State ID, W-2 Setup, 1098 Setup). Click on a page for details.
Information entered on the General page is automatically retrieved and printed on all Information Returns (1099, 1098, 5498, W2G) and Annual Wage Reports (W2, W2C).

The Corporate page can be used to identify the entity associated with the Taxpayer ID, if different than the filer information entered on the General page.

The Contacts page identifies those people in charge of 1099 and W2 processing.

State identification numbers are entered on the State ID page.

Employers must indicate their employer type, taxing jurisdiction, agent information, third-party sick pay information, and additional employer information on the W-2 Setup page.

The 1098 Setup page should be used by those interested in apportioning mortgage interest, real estate taxes, and amortization among shareholders in a cooperative.
